![]() One of the finest achievements of European furniture making, this cabinet is the most important product from Abraham (1711-1793) and David Roentgen’s (1743-1807) workshop. A writing cabinet crowned with a chiming clock, it features finely designed marquetry panels and elaborate mechanisms that allow for doors and drawers to be opened automatically at the touch of a button. Owned by King Frederick William II, the Berlin cabinet is uniquely remarkable for its ornate decoration, mechanical complexity, and sheer size. The Roentgens’ Berlin Secretary Cabinet is indeed fine. The craftsmanship is exquisite. This writing cabinet seems well preserved as there seems to be no trace of wood decay or dust. I have seen this being featured in the television once. I recall hearing something about this furniture having several hidden compartments even. 6/26/2016 08:12:54 pm

The higher amount of effort was involved in the work of those time persons. They work harder than the today’s engineers. The video is so great and reveals the many hidden things in designing of that desk. The draw and books outer portion is so nicely designed in that desk. Comments are closed.
